Detailed Solution

India is a secular state because there is no state religion.
It is because no religion has been provided with the status of a national religion. There is no state religion in India. People belonging to different religions live here freely. All people have the right to follow any religion and work for its propagation. The Constitution ensures freedom of religion to all its citizens. It is provided in articles 25–28. This provides equal status for all religions. It implies that the government may not interfere with religious practices unless it is socially restraining.
