The constitution refers to the set of rules accepted by all citizens residing in the nation. The Indian struggle for freedom also involved the drafting of the constitution for India. In this context, the first attempt at drafting a constitution was put forward in 1928 by Motilal Nehru and eight congress leaders. In 1931, at the Karachi session of the Indian National Congress, a resolution was passed to seek an idea to frame the constitution of independent India. It included the universal adult franchise, the fundamental right to freedom and equality, the rights of minorities, etc.
