Detailed Solution

Industrial growth in India was slow till the First World War. But because of the First World War, imports from Manchester to India fell as mills were forced to meet army demands. As a result, British mills were occupied with producing goods for the Army. Indian mills had a sizable domestic market to supply. As the war progressed, Indian factories were called upon to supply war necessities such as jute bags, uniform cloth, boots, and so on.
