Succinic dehydrogenase activity gets inhibited by malonate which closely resembles its substrate succinate in structure. When the inhibitor closely resembles the substrate in its molecular structure and inhibits the activity of the enzyme by binding to active site of the enzyme, it is known as competitive inhibitor and the process known as competitive inhibition.
