Ascariasis is caused by the intestinal parasite Ascaris. Internal bleeding, muscular discomfort, fever, anaemia and intestinal blockage are all symptoms of this condition. 

The parasite's eggs are expelled in the faeces of infected people, contaminating the soil, water and plants. 

This infection is spread via polluted water, vegetables, fruits and other foods.
