An example of such a movement is the 'Beej Bachao Andolan' of Tehri district from Uttarakhand in 1986, Led by Vijay Jardhari and the farmers of Jardhar village.
This movement was started because they realised the negative impacts of the high yield cropping and chemicals to increase soil fertility through pesticides, fertilisers and insecticides. They spread awareness about how good traditional practices are, and we should follow them, which are suitable for us and the environment. And wanted the people to understand it too.
