It is true that Britain's economy collapsed following the First World War. The reasons are as follows.

4)      Many new employees were hired, and everyone had to work more. Production in the industrial sector soared throughout the conflict.
5)      After the war, Britain's economy fell apart. As cotton production decreased, so did British exports of cotton fabric. Local industrialists in the colonies increasingly strengthened their position by displacing foreign producers and gaining control of the domestic market.
