Detailed Solution

It is true that Chinese Buddhist missionaries introduced the hand-printing technique to Japan. However, the oldest Japanese book was the Buddhist Diamond Sutra, which was first printed in 868 AD. It consisted of woodcut illustrations and six sheets of text. Prints became so popular that various hand-printed items were put in libraries and bookstores. These included women's publications and books on tea ceremonies, musical instruments, flower arrangements, etiquette, cuisine, and famous locations.
