Examples of plant fibre are jute, cotton, etc. The fibres obtained from coconut are known as coir. Coir is obtained from the outer covering of coconut called the husk. The husk is first immersed in water, and then the coir is separated from it. They are obtained from the outer husk of the coconut and are very hard and, thus, cannot be used for making clothes. They are used for making brushes, doormats, mattresses, ropes, etc.
