It is true that Dr B. R. Ambedkar formed the Depressed Classes Association. Dalits were a social group excluded from the national movement as the Indian National Congress was indifferent to the Dalits, who were recognized as “Untouchables.” Some Dalit leaders began to organize themselves, demanding their rights, reservation of seats in educational institutions, and a separate electo rate. One such Dalit leader was B.R.Ambedkar, who organized the Dalits into the Depressed Classes Association in 1930. The depressed class association demanded a separate electorate for Dalits at the Round Table Conference.
