A conductor is a material which allows an electric current to pass through itself, and an insulator is a material which does not allow an electric current to pass through itself. A conductor also offers resistance to the current. Conductors contain free-charged particles. While travelling, these free-charged particles collide with the molecules and atoms of the conductor. This collision is the ultimate cause of resistance in a conductor. For example, the filament used in the electric bulb is a conductor of electricity, but it glows due to the high resistance.
