It is true that Gandhi began the Dandi March from his Sabarmati ashram. He started the march with 78 of his highly trusted volunteers. They walked about 10 miles a day and continued for 24 days until they reached Dandi. Gandhi broke the salt law at Dandi by boiling sea water and manufacturing salt. The Dandi March officially marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement.
