Detailed Solution

It is true that Gandhi returned to India from South Africa in 1915. Gandhi had already practised a novel method of mass agitation called satyagraha in South Africa, where he succeeded in fighting against the racist regime. The movement was based on the idea that if the cause for the agitation was actual and the struggle was against unfairness and injustice, physical force or violence was unnecessary. Thus, after arriving in India, Gandhi organised multiple satyagraha movements to appeal to the conscience of the British.
