Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
In 1869, after Newlands Octave Law was rejected, the Mendeleev Periodic table was introduced. In this periodic table, the elements were arranged on the basis of their respective atomic masses.
Mendeleev left spaces in his table for elements that weren't yet understood. He also predicted the characteristics of these unknown elements by examining the chemical and physical characteristics of the elements close to a gap. Mendeleev, for instance, predicted the possibility of "eka-silicon," an element that would fit next to silicon. Later on, the element germanium was found. Its characteristics were discovered to be comparable to those predicted. The properties of the newly found elements, including scandium and gallium, again matched those predicted by Mendeleev.
