Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
An unsaturated hydrocarbon is used to get a saturated hydrocarbon by addition of hydrogen is called hydrogenation. A catalyst such as nickel or palladium metal is used in this process. This process also has some important industrial applications. The vegetable ghee from the vegetable oils is prepared using this process. The vegetable oils like groundnut oils, cotton seed oils and mustard oils all are unsaturated and also contain carbon-carbon double bond. In addition of hydrogen (hydrogenation), the vegetable oil produces vegetable ghee in the presence of catalyst nickel.
