Detailed Solution

The above statement is True
In India, the manuscripts were written in Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, and various vernacular languages. The manuscripts were copied or illustrated on sewn-together palm leaves or handmade paper. The pages were beautifully illustrated and had to be handled with the utmost care as they were highly expensive and fragile. Therefore, they were either sewn together or pressed between wooden covers. An example of a palm-leaf written manuscript is the Gita Govinda of Jayadeva. Even after the introduction of print, the manuscripts were still produced down to the late 19th century. Hence, the statement is true.
