Pressure = \frac{Force}{Area}

“Pressure is the force acting on a unit area of any surface”. When the surface area reduces, the pressure rises and similarly, when the surface area increases, the pressure drops. Since pressure is inversely proportional to area, a smaller area of contact will apply more pressure, and a broader area of contact will apply less pressure.
