Lead acetate can be used in the place of lead nitrate in the double displacement reaction. Because lead acetate is it is water-soluble. It dissolves in water to give lead ion and acetate ion, and on reacting with potassium iodide, the lead ion joins with the iodine ion to create lead iodide, and the potassium ion joins with the acetate ion to form potassium acetate. Therefore, lead acetate can be used in place of lead nitrate.
