A mineral acid is also known as an inorganic acid. Any acid formed from an inorganic substance dissociates in water to release hydrogen ions (H+). Mineral acids are very soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents. Therefore, the inorganic acids are extremely corrosive. Mineral acids are more powerful than carboxylic acids because they are entirely ionized, whereas carboxylic acids are only partially ionised. For example, Sulphuric acid is a mineral that reacts with Zinc to produce zinc sulphate. The reaction can be given as follows:
                                           Zn+H2SO4ZnSO4+H2
                                     Zinc + Sulphuric acid → Zinc sulphate + Hydrogen gas
