Detailed Solution

The above statement is true. Print encouraged reading religious texts among Hindus, particularly in vernacular languages. Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas, a text from the sixteenth century, was published for the first time in print in Calcutta in 1810. By the middle of the 19th century, inexpensive lithography publications were overrunning north Indian markets. Numerous religious works in vernaculars were published in the 1880s by the Shri Venkateshwar Press in Bombay and the Naval Kishore Press in Lucknow.
The believers could read these easily anywhere and at any time, in their printed and portable form. They could also be read to illiterate male and female groups.
