Detailed Solution

It is true that rights are important for the very sustenance of democracy in a country. Since democracy ensures the participation of the people in the formation of the government directly or indirectly, there is this notion that the government is working for the welfare of the people or simply in the interest of the public. If rights are breached in a democracy, the government is bound to fall in the next elections as this will instil negative feelings in the people against the government, thus failing democracy. Hence, rights are important for a government to be stable, which will, in turn, maintain the proper working of the democratic institutions in the country. After all, democracy, which is the People’s government, must adhere to the rights and freedoms of the people.
