While several workers didn't want to be a part of the Civil Disobedience Movement, some workers did take part in the Movement, adopting certain Gandhian principles—like the boycott of imported goods—as part of their campaigns against poor wages and unfavourable working conditions. Railway and dock workers both went on strike in 1930 and 1932, respectively. In 1930, thousands of tin miners in Chotanagpur donned Gandhi caps and participated in protest marches and boycott initiatives. However, Congress resisted incorporating the demands of the working class into its strategy for struggle. It was thought that this would polarise the anti-imperial forces and alienate the industrialists.
