Spherical mirrors are of two types. Concave and convex mirrors. A concave mirror produces both real and virtual images. Convex mirrors produce only virtual images because the focus and centre of curvature are two imaginary points. The actual intersection of light rays forms a real image. A virtual image is formed when the light rays appear to be originating from a point but do not meet. Human eyes can see it. Hence, rear-view mirrors form virtual images.
