Is it true that the amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere decreases due to the nitrogen cycle?

The nitrogen cycle is the process that cycles the nitrogen from the atmosphere to plants and organisms and later back to the environment. The amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere remains constant as it is eventually transferred back to the environment when the plant or the organism dies and decomposes. So, due to the nitrogen cycle, the nitrogen used up by plants and animals is later released into the atmosphere itself. Hence, the amount of nitrogen always remains constant.
