The biggest four-digit number which when divided by 18 and 12 leaves a remainder of 4 every time is 9976.
We know the largest 4-digit number is 9999.
Calculating the LCM of 18 and 12,
18 = 1 × 2 × 3 × 3
12 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 3
Thus, the LCM of 18 and 12,
⇒ 2 × 2 × 2×3 × 3 × 3
⇒ 36
On dividing 9999 by 36, we get 277.75.
The required number is,
⇒ (36 × 277) + 4
⇒ 9972 + 4
⇒ 9976
Therefore, our statement is true.
