Heat energy is a form of thermal energy which increases the temperature of any substance by increasing the movement of molecules in it. Suppose heat energy is provided to different substances, then due to the movement of the molecules of the substance. In that case, the force of attraction between the molecules decreases and the expansion of the substance may occur. The expansion will be different for different substances, the expansion of gas will be highest as the molecules have very less force of attraction and minimum in the solid as the force of attraction will be highest in solids.
