Communicable diseases can spread from one person to another through direct and indirect contact. They are also called contagious or transmissible diseases. 

In these diseases, a pathogen such as a virus, bacterium, or parasite is transmitted from one person to another. This can occur through direct contact with an infected person's bodily fluids, such as blood or saliva, or by indirect contact with contaminated surfaces or objects. Inhalation of respiratory droplets from an infected person who has coughed or sneezed can also result in transmission.
