In a pinhole camera, an inverted image is formed when light rays from the top and bottom of the object intersect at the pinhole, the top of the subject becomes the bottom, and the bottom of the subject becomes the top during the projection. As a result of the linear propagation of light (light travels in a straight line) through the hole of the pinhole camera, we receive an upside-down image.
