Cotton is a soft fibre that grows around the seeds of cotton plants (cotton bolls) or cotton fruits. Cotton bolls are almost the same as the size of a lemon. After maturing, the balls burst open and the seeds covered with cotton fibres can be seen. From these cotton bolls, cotton is mostly picked by hand. Combining is used to separate these fibres from the seeds. This process is called ginning of cotton.
