Initially, the mixture of sawdust and sugar is added to water, and the sugar gets dissolved but saw dust remains suspended. The resulting mixture is filtered out using a filter paper in which sawdust gets collected on the paper while the water containing dissolved sugar passes through as filtrate. The filtrate obtained is then heated to carry out evaporation of water which leaves the sugar behind.
