Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
A separatory funnel, also known as a separation funnel, or sep funnel in colloquial parlance, is a piece of laboratory glassware used in liquid-liquid extractions to separate the components of a mixture into two immiscible solvent phases of different densities. A separating funnel is used to separate two immiscible liquids. After adding the liquids to the separating funnel, the two liquids will form two phases which makes it easy to separate the two liquids by taking out the lower layer.
