An expression that consists of only one term is called a monomial, consisting of two terms is a binomial and that of three terms is called a trinomial.
On subtracting a monomial expression ‘x’ from a binomial expression ‘x-y’ the expression obtained is given as ‘ xx+y=y  ’.
The expression obtained ‘y’ is monomial since it contains only one term.
Therefore, our statement is false.
When we subtract a monomial expression from a binomial expression the answer is at least a monomial.
