According to newton’s third equation of motion,
v2=u2+2as 
where, v is the final velocity of the object, u is the initial velocity of the object, a is the acceleration of the moving object and s is the distance travelled by the object.
So if the object is freely falling under the influence of the earth’s gravity. The initial velocity(u) would be zero(0), the acceleration(a) would be, g and the distance(s) would be the height (h).
So the free falling velocity(v) would be
v2=(0)2+2×g×h
    v2= 2×g×h
     v= 2gh
We can see by the formula that free falling velocity is dependent on the height of the freely falling object.
So the correct statement would be that the velocity of a freely falling object is dependent of the height of the object.
