Is the Solid State chapter included in the JEE/NEET syllabus for 2025?

For the academic year 2024-2025 and the corresponding entrance exams in 2025, there have been significant rationalizations in the syllabus by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts both JEE (Main) and NEET (UG).

For JEE Main 2025: The chapter "The Solid State" has been removed from the official JEE Main Chemistry syllabus. This decision was made in alignment with the updated NCERT Class 12 textbook, from which this chapter was deleted. Students preparing for JEE Main 2025 are not required to study this topic. Similarly, other chapters like "Surface Chemistry," "Polymers," and "Chemistry in Everyday Life" have also been removed.

For NEET 2025: Similarly, the NEET (UG) syllabus has been revised. The chapter "The Solid State" is no longer part of the official NEET Chemistry syllabus for 2025. This reflects the changes in the NCERT curriculum. Along with the solid state, several other topics and chapters have been removed, such as "Hydrogen," "Environmental Chemistry," and "S-block Elements."

Why was it removed? 

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) undertook a syllabus rationalization exercise to reduce the curriculum load on students, especially in the post-pandemic academic landscape. Since JEE and NEET syllabi are primarily based on the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12, the changes in the textbooks were subsequently reflected in the syllabi for these competitive exams.

It is crucial for aspirants to always refer to the latest official syllabus released by the NTA on their official websites to ensure they are preparing with the most accurate and up-to-date information. While "The Solid State" is a fundamental topic, the focus for these specific exams has shifted, and candidates should direct their efforts towards the prescribed topics to optimize their preparation.
