Detailed Solution

It is not politics that gets caste-ridden; it is the caste that gets politicised.
Caste gets politicised instead of politics becoming caste-ridden. This manifests itself in several ways. For example, each caste group strives to grow by bringing in nearby castes or sub-castes previously excluded. Caste groups of the ‘backwards’ and ‘advanced’ varieties have emerged as new caste types in politics. In certain circumstances, the political expression of caste inequalities affords many disadvantaged people the opportunity to seek their fair share of power. Caste politics have, in this way, making it easier for members of the Dalit and OBC castes to participate in decision-making. Separately focusing on caste, though, can have the opposite effect. Caste-based politics is unhealthy for a democracy. It can have dangerous consequences.
