The only Harappan site without a citadel or fortified structure is Chanhudaro (Pakistan).

The area to the east was generally larger but lower. This is known as the lower town. Walls of baked brick were frequently built around each part. The bricks were baked so well that they lasted for thousands of years. The bricks were laid in an interlocking pattern, which strengthened the walls.
