Detailed Solution

Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian flag on the banks of Ravi in Lahore on December 29, 1929.
The Lahore session marked a turning point in India's quest for independence. Nehru served as the session's chair, and it was at this meeting Congress declared January 26, 1930, to be Independence Day. Hence people in India celebrated the occasion and signed the Independence Pledge, which Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru jointly authored. However, the widespread public outrage over the 1927 Simon Commission, established to assess India's constitutional development but lacked an Indian member, led to the Lahore Session. Meanwhile, leaders like Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose promoted the idea of total independence or Purna Swaraj at that time.
