John Kay invented the Flying Shuttle.
If new technology can increase production while keeping expenses from rising too much, artisans will use it. Weavers employing looms with fly shuttles are seen in the second decade of the twentieth century. This led to faster production, more employee productivity, and a decreased need for labour. In India, fly shuttles were installed in more than 35% of handlooms by 1941; in places like Travancore, Madras, Mysore, Cochin, and Bengal, the proportion was between 70 and 80 per cent. Weavers increased their output and competed with the mill sector thanks to several other little advancements.
