John Kaye invented the spinning jenny in 1764 to increase the productivity of traditional spindles. The spinning jenny was used to frame the spinning of the multi-spindle. It was contributional to the textiles industry. The spinning jenny was developed at the time of the industrial revolution. It was used to spin both wool and cotton. Spinning jenny proved very helpful to the women workers whose total income depended on spinning. These full-time women workers attacked spinning jenny because hand spinning work consumes lots of time, while spinning jenny reduced the time to produce the cloth.
