and then turns around and jogs

. The average speed of Joseph while jogging from A to B is

2 m / s

and from B to A is

0.952 m / s

Average velocity is defined as the ratio of total displacement to the total time taken.
The displacement for moving from A to B is

300 m

and total time taken is,

= 2 \times 60 + 30

= 120 + 30

= 150 s

Average velocity will be,

average velocity = \frac{300}{150}

= 2 m / s

When Joseph returns

100 m

then the total displacement becomes,

300 - 100 = 200 m

But the time taken increases to

3 \min 30 s

which is equal to,

3 \times 60 + 30 = 180 + 30

= 210 s
