Detailed Solution

Jyotiba Phule established schools in Maharashtra.
In India, women's education was pioneered by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and his wife, Savitribai Phule. In 1848, Phule established his first girls-only school in Pune in Tatyasaheb Bhide's house, also known as Bhidewada. He founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) along with his adherents to secure equal rights for members of lower castes. This organisation, which strove to elevate the poor masses, welcomed members from all religions and castes. Phule is considered a key player in the social reform movement in Maharashtra. Maharashtrian social activist Vithalrao Krishnaji Vandekar gave him the honorific "Mahatma" in 1888.
