Detailed Solution

Kabul and Qandahar were linked to the celebrated Silk Route.
There were many traders, such as the Banjaras and horse traders. Many formed associations and guilds as they had to pass through forests and travel in caravans. In those days, there was a high risk of falling into the trap of thieves or dacoits. One way to protect their interests was to form guilds. Traders formed guilds in south India from the start of the eighth century, including the famous Nandesai and Manigramam. They traded extensively with Southeast Asia and China and also within the peninsula. Kabul became a principal trading centre in the sixteenth century. Kabul and Kandahar were linked to the Silk Route. The diamond merchant Jean Baptiste Tavernier estimated in the seventeenth century that the horse trade in Kabul amounted to an annual sum of 30,000 rupees. In addition, some traders also brought enslaved people to Kabul for sale.
