Kaislashbashini Debi was a Bengali writer, she wrote books in the 18th century.
In the wake of social reforms and books, there was also a great deal of interest in what women had to say about their own lives. At the beginning of the 18th century, a handful of Bengali women, such as Kailashbashini Debi, authored novels that highlighted the hardships of women. These writings describe how women were imprisoned at home, kept in ignorance, forced to do arduous domestic labour, and treated cruelly by the very people they served. Kailashbashini Debi was one of these women. In Pandita Ramabai's Tarabai Shinde and Pandita Shinde's Pandita Ramabai, she wrote about the misery of upper-caste Hindu women, especially widows, in the 1880s in present-day Maharashtra.
