Detailed Solution

Kalidasa was the court poet of  Chandragupta II. Apart from Kalidasa, there were other poets in the court of Chandragupta II, and combining all of them was known as the 9 jewels. The lifestyle of ordinary people was known from various accounts of Kalidasa. One such account was his famous play known as Abhigyan Shakuntalam. Abhigyan Shakuntalam was a story of the love between a woman named Shakuntala and a king called Dushyanta. In this play, Kalidasa mentions that Dushyanta gave a golden ring to Shakuntala, which she accidentally lost in the river. However, an honest fisherman found that ring in a fish, which was swallowed by it.
