Kalidasa was the court poet of  Chandragupta II. Apart from Kalidasa, there were other poets in the court of Chandragupta II, and combining all of them was known as the 9 jewels. The lifestyle of ordinary people was known from various accounts of Kalidasa. One such account was his famous play known as Abhigyan Shakuntalam. Abhigyan Shakuntalam was a story of the love between a woman named Shakuntala and a king called Dushyanta. However, an honest fisherman found that ring in a fish, which was swallowed by it.
