Kanchipuram was the capital of Pallavas.The Pallava kings ruled South India between 400 CE and 600 CE. They reigned in the Kaveri delta region, with Kanchipuram serving as the capital. The Pallavas were also influential in developing a new type of temple architecture known as Dravidian architecture. The Pallava kings erected the first temples, known as Ratha temples, such as Dharmaraj Ratha. The Chola emperors later expanded these temples into the present-day architectural style.
