Detailed Solution

Kanishka belonged to Kushan kingdom.
Kanishka was one of the famous rulers of the Kushan Kingdom who ruled the North Western part of India around 1900 years ago. He was known for developing the Buddhist culture in the North Western region of India by encouraging the Gandhara and Mathura sculptures of Buddha. He also organized one of the famous Buddhist councils, the fourth Buddhist council, where many scholars had discussions about a few important matters. He also invited a poet called Ashwagosha, who composed a biography of Buddha known as Buddha Charitra. This poet also used to live in the court of Kanishka along with 8 other luminaries at that time.
