Detailed Solution

Kathak developed in two traditions or gharanas: one in the courts of Rajasthan and the other in Lucknow.
Kathak is an Indian classical dance form named after the Sanskrit word Katha. Its main characteristics are intricate and rapid footwork, as well as elaborate costumes. Kathak was performed in the court of the Mughal emperors and their nobles, where it acquired most of its characteristics and developed into a distinct style of dance. It later developed into two traditions or gharanas, one in the courts of Rajasthan (Jaipur) and the other in Lucknow. Kathak flourished in late-nineteenth-century Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
