Detailed Solution

Kerala has fertile land.
The five categories are coastal areas, inland areas, valley areas, hilly areas, and Palakkad. There are also 23 agro-ecological units under five categories. The classification is based on an extensive survey conducted by the Department of Agriculture with the support of the Kerala Agricultural University and the Planning Committee. The essential or staple food is rice or paddy. About 600 types of rice are cultivated in the vast rice fields of Kerala. The Kuttanad region of Kerala, known as the "state rice bowl," occupies an important position in rice production.
