Detailed Solution

Khadar is a variety of Alluvial soil.
The most common soil type in India is the alluvial soil making up the Great Indian Plains, which forms about 43% of India’s land area. Khadar and bhangar, the two varieties of alluvium, are found in the doab or confluence region of the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. Khadar is generally found in the floodplains of rivers. It is the fertile alluvium with higher contents of finer silt and clay particles. These regions are used for cultivation when the course of the river changes in certain areas. The soil has a sticky nature due to its water-retention properties. Khadar is periodically replenished by the annual flooding of the perennial Himalayan rivers.
