Khalsa was a political institution.
It emerged under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. The group of people who are Sikhs are called Khalsa Panth. The beginning of this political institution can be traced to the activities of Jahangir, who ordered the execution of Guru Arjun in 1606. This was because Aurangzeb considered the growth of this group a potential threat to the whole Empire. Under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singh, this group had a huge impact on the importance of worship of one God. After the death of Aurangzeb, this group again rose in revolt against the authority under the leadership of Banda Bahadur.
